Lynx Ultralite 22″ Magnesium Wheelchair

The Lynx Ultralite 22″ is a lightweight self propelled wheelchair that weighs 10 kg, because its frame is made of magnesium alloy. Its 22-inch rear wheels have push rims, so the user can push themselves, and a carer can push from behind as well. It folds to 28 cm wide and carries users up to 100 kg. A seat belt and a two-layer cushion are included.

Will a carer always be pushing? The Lynx Ultralite 16″ has smaller wheels and weighs 8 kg. If pushing is too tiring, compare our electric wheelchairs.

How this lightweight self propelled wheelchair works

The user turns the push rims on the 22-inch rear wheels to move and steer. A carer can also push using the handles, where brake levers let them lock the chair without bending down. There is also a brake beside each rear wheel, within the user’s reach.

The tyres are solid PU, so they never need pumping. The armrests flip up, and the footrests swing away or lift off completely, so moving across from a bed, sofa or car seat is easier.

To store it, the frame folds to 28 cm wide and the backrest folds down. In addition, both rear wheels come off without tools, and the footrests lift off as well, so there is less to lift into a car boot.

Will it fit in my car boot?

What is the difference between the 22″ and the 16″?
Both have the same magnesium alloy frame and the same seat size, both fold to 28 cm wide, and both carry users up to 100 kg. The 22″ weighs 10 kg, and its large rear wheels have push rims, so the user can push themselves. The 16″ weighs 8 kg and is pushed by a carer.

Can I take it on a plane?
Yes. It is a manual wheelchair with no battery, so there are no battery rules to worry about. Airlines usually carry a passenger’s own wheelchair and return it when you land. However, every airline has its own procedure, so tell your airline about the wheelchair when you book.

Do the tyres need pumping?
No. The tyres are solid PU, so they never need pumping and cannot puncture.

What does the warranty cover?
One year on the magnesium alloy frame, against manufacturing defects. Parts that wear with use, such as tyres, cushions and armrest pads, are not covered.
