Lynx Ultralite 16″ Magnesium Wheelchair

The Lynx Ultralite 16″ is an ultra lightweight wheelchair that weighs just 8.8 kg, because its frame is made of magnesium alloy. A carer pushes it from behind, and it carries users up to 100 kg. A seat belt and a two-layer cushion are included.

How this ultra lightweight wheelchair works

The 16-inch rear wheels have no push rims, so a carer pushes the chair using the handles. Brake levers on the push handles let the carer lock the chair without bending down, and there is also a brake beside each rear wheel.

The tyres are solid PU, so they never need pumping. The armrests flip up, and the footrests swing away or lift off completely, so moving across from a bed, sofa or car seat is easier.

To store it, the frame folds to 28 cm wide and the backrest folds down. The footrests lift off as well.

Can the user push it themselves?
No. The 16-inch rear wheels have no push rims, so a carer pushes. If the user wants to push themselves, choose the Lynx Ultralite 22″ instead.

What is the difference between the 16″ and the 22″?
Both have the same magnesium alloy frame and the same seat size, both fold to 28 cm wide, and both carry users up to 100 kg. The 16″ weighs 8.8 kg and is pushed by a carer. The 22″ weighs 10 kg, and its large rear wheels have push rims, so the user can push themselves.

Will it fit in my car boot?
Folded, the chair is 28 cm wide. The backrest folds down and the footrests lift off. If you would like to be sure, bring your car to one of our showrooms and try it.

Can I take it on a plane?
Yes. It is a manual wheelchair with no battery, so there are no battery rules to worry about. Airlines usually carry a passenger’s own wheelchair and return it when you land. However, every airline has its own procedure, so tell your airline about the wheelchair when you book.

Do the tyres need pumping?
No. The tyres are solid PU, so they never need pumping and cannot puncture.

What does the warranty cover?
One year on the magnesium alloy frame, against manufacturing defects. Parts that wear with use, such as tyres, cushions and armrest pads, are not covered.
