The Onyx is a foldable electric wheelchair with a steel frame, built for users up to 120 kg. It has a seat 43 cm wide and 44 cm deep, two 250 W motors and a range of up to 15 km per charge. It is a sturdy, lower-cost choice for daily use at home and around the neighbourhood. The batteries and charger are included.

How this foldable electric wheelchair works

The user steers with a joystick on the armrest, at up to 6 km/h. Two 250 W motors drive the rear wheels. When the joystick is released, the chair stops and holds its position on a gentle slope. Hand brakes beside the rear wheels lock it when parked.

Power comes from two 12 V lead-acid batteries, working together as 24 V 12 Ah. They recharge in about 6 hours and take the chair up to 15 km. A heavier rider, slopes and an older battery all reduce this, so plan shorter trips at first.

The frame folds for storage, and the armrests and footplates flip up. Folded, it measures L 93 × W 41 × H 73 cm.

Will it fit in my car boot?
Folded, the chair measures L 93 × W 41 × H 73 cm, so measure your boot first. In a compact hatchback, the rear seats may need to fold down. At 34 kg with batteries, it takes two people to lift.

How far does it go, and how long does it take to recharge?
It travels up to 15 km on flat ground with full batteries. A heavier rider, slopes and an older battery all reduce this, so plan shorter trips at first. Recharging takes about 6 hours with the charger supplied.

Can I take it on a plane?
We do not recommend the Onyx for air travel. It is heavy, and its lead-acid batteries follow different airline rules from lithium ones. For flights, look at our lithium-battery chairs instead.

Can it be used outdoors and in the rain?
Yes, on smooth and level pavements, in malls and along hospital walkways. Use the kerb ramp, because it is not built to climb kerbs. Keep it out of the rain and away from puddles, because water can damage the electronics.

What does the warranty cover?
One year on the frame, motors, controller and batteries, against manufacturing defects. Normal wear on tyres, seat fabric and armrest pads is not covered.
