The Dolphy is a reclining commode wheelchair, so one chair does three jobs: moving around, lying back to rest, and going to the toilet. The backrest reclines to 160°, which is almost flat, and the leg rests raise to support the legs. It has a steel frame and carries users up to 100 kg. A commode bucket and a headrest are included.

For sleeping overnight, see our 医院床位. If the user can sit upright and only needs help getting around, see the Lynx Ultralite 22″.

How this reclining commode wheelchair works

The backrest tilts back as far as 160°, so the user can rest without being moved to a bed. When the backrest is down, raise the leg rests so that the legs are supported as well.

The seat cushion has an S-curve shape that follows the body, so it is more comfortable and helps to stop the user slouching.

For toileting, the chair has a built-in commode with a bucket, so the user does not need to move across to a separate commode chair.

The 24-inch rear wheels have push rims, so the user can push themselves when sitting upright. A carer can also push using the handles.

Anti-tip wheels at the back help to keep the chair steady while it is reclined. In addition, the headrest, armrests and footrests all come off, which gives the carer more room during transfers.

Key features

  • Reclines to 160° – almost flat, for resting in the chair.
  • Raising leg rests – they support the legs when the backrest is down.
  • Built-in commode – with a bucket included.
  • 24-inch push-rim wheels and anti-tip wheels – the user can push themselves when upright, and extra wheels at the back add steadiness when reclined.
  • Detachable headrest, armrests and footrests – they come off to make transfers and storage easier.
  • S-curve seat cushion – shaped to follow the body, for better comfort and to help stop slouching. The seat is 46 cm (18 inches) wide.

Who is this reclining commode wheelchair for?

  • Users who cannot sit upright for long, and need to lie back during the day.
  • Families caring for a very weak parent at home, who want fewer moves between bed, chair and commode.
  • Users who need help with toileting and cannot easily reach the bathroom.
  • Carers who look after someone on their own, because the armrests and footrests come off to give more room during transfers.
  • Users just home from hospital who are still regaining their strength.
  • Nursing homes that want fewer transfers per resident each day, because resting and toileting happen in the same chair.

However, this reclining commode wheelchair is larger than a standard wheelchair, so it is meant for use at home or in a care centre, rather than for travel. It is rated for users up to 100 kg.

常见问题解答

How far does the backrest recline?
Up to 170°, which is almost flat.

Does the commode bucket come with it?
Yes. The bucket is included.

Can the user push it themselves?
Yes, when sitting upright. The 24-inch rear wheels have push rims, and a carer can push from behind as well.

Is it steady when reclined?
It has anti-tip wheels at the back. Even so, always apply the brakes before reclining the backrest.

Do the armrests and footrests come off?
Yes. The headrest, armrests and footrests are all detachable.

How do I clean it?
Wipe the seat, backrest, armrests and frame with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, then wipe them dry. Empty the commode bucket after each use, wash it with soapy water or a household disinfectant, and let it dry. Because the frame is steel, do not leave it wet, and avoid harsh or abrasive cleaners. In a nursing home, clean the chair between residents in line with your centre’s own cleaning routine.

What does the warranty cover?
One year on the steel frame, against manufacturing defects. Parts that wear with use, such as tyres, upholstery and armrest pads, are not covered.

Can I try it before buying?
Yes. Visit one of our showrooms in Cheras, Petaling Jaya, Melaka or Johor Bahru, and our Sales Advisors will gladly walk you through it.
